Newcomer 2 (NC-2)
Newcomer 2 (NC-2) is the second model rocket I built. The kit was gifted to me by Mr. Smitty. I used some different building techniques that I had found online. I also used a different paint scheme.
Newcomer II is one of the kits I received from Mr Smitty for Trail Junction 2021. It is and Estes Alpha (Beta Series) kit. I made some modifications outside of the instructions. I cut the launch lug to have slanted leading and trailing edges for aerodynamics, and also mounted it next to a fin for the same reason, but it also makes it more stable. I also discovered that because of where I had put the launch lug on Newcomer I, the engine hook got in the way of the launch rod and dragged along it all the way up. By placing the launch lug next to a fin, I avoided this aswell. I also painted the nosecone, body tube, and fins separatly before gluing them together, while with NC-1 I assembled the rocket and then spray painted the completed rocket using some paper and masking tape.

Success. We attempted to use the theodolite, but it did not go up straight enough for a good enough reading, and it was hard to manage for two people since Adam was trying to film it as well.

Failure. High altitude and possibly an increase in wind led to NC-2 blowing just behind the clump of trees bordering the field. Me and my brother Adam searched for it for atleast half an hour, but it started raining and I decided it was time to turn back since I had to go to work in
